Adara Noya Fireplace January 17th, 2018 - 08:08:39
Slab material. A fully segmented wall pattern in wood creates this transitional center fireplace. A single piece of stone with a hole cut out for the firebox serves as the surround. Smooth lines deliver casual elegance in this family room. Select slabs from a stone yard’s remnants (material left over from other projects) to complete your project at a much lower cost.
A slab of marble granite or another solid surface creates a dramatic and minimalist aesthetic. Make sure to hand select your slab and discuss the best area to cut with your installer. Try to take advantage of veining that creates a focal point. Around $7.000 to $10.000 for the slab fabrication and installation. This facing is among the higher-priced ones.
Finished steel. This example shown here is described as having a blued finish. This is not paint but an actual finish process. It’s a great-looking detail for a modern or transitional space. $5.000 to $8.000 for raw materials custom fabrication finishing and installation.
Think beyond straight lines and boxes. This open fire pit design allows for the chimney to do double duty as a large industrial sculpture.
Avoid architectural features. The flue can also bend and be rerouted to avoid architectural features such as overhangs. Again (this can't be stressed enough) follow the building codes and manufacturer specifications when doing any chimney installation.
I love a good fireplace. If you are a member of the always-cold club you know what I’m talking about. Sitting in front of a roaring fire is my idea of cozy. Whether you love the smell and crackle of a wood-burning fireplace or the ease of a gas-burning one choosing the right facing is a big decision.
